DESCRIPTION:BEKI is re-launching its Tikkun Olam (Social Action) Committee!
 \n\nIf you’d like to get involved\, ask questions\, or brainstorm ideas\
 , meet Sat.\, April 4\, at 12:15 pm for the schmooze. We are hoping the th
 e Pesach energy of liberation\, hope\, and memory can inspire us.\n\nWhat 
 is the Tikkun Olam Committee?\n\nWe Jews bear a Torah imperative to attemp
 t to create a world of hesed\, a world of love\, in imitation of God’s w
 ork creating this world from love. The work of Tikkun Olam is the work of 
 collectively working to improve the world. We do this through acts of kind
 ness\, prayer\, and service.\nThe reinvigoration of the Tikkun Olam Commit
 tee at BEKI aims to strengthen our congregation’s connection to meaningf
 ul service\, learning\, and engagement in the wider New Haven community. T
 he committee will organize opportunities for BEKI members to volunteer wit
 h and learn from local organizations that address pressing needs and gaps 
 within the community\, identifying two to four partner organizations where
  congregants can contribute their time and skills. This volunteer engageme
 nt will be intentionally linked with programming at BEKI — for both reli
 gious school students and the broader congregation — creating opportunit
 ies to deepen understanding of the realities people face beyond our own co
 mmunity\, explore how these organizations work to improve lives\, and refl
 ect on how such efforts connect with Jewish values\, tradition\, and scrip
 ture. Through this integrated approach\, the committee hopes to foster sus
 tained relationships\, thoughtful learning\, and collective action grounde
 d in the spirit of Tikkun Olam.
